BlackLight Community was started out of the lack of attention and detail that was given to BIPOC students at my university. BlackLight re-started in January 2020 with 3 friends and now is an established non-profit whose mission is to help BIPOC artist through life performance and well-being

BlackLight Community Re-vamped in 2020 and started with a bang. Before the pandemic, his BlackLight was busy away planning their inaugural Benefit Concert for April 2020 that would have featured local New York musicians. The concert would've also been showcased on live television. But sadly it was canceled and BlackLight took a 2-month break.

Then May hit and the world was stunned at the murder of unarmed black people in America and BlackLight took to the streets in protest. They teamed up with another nonprofit Love City Arts to produce Kuponya, a safe space for bipoc individuals who need mental and emotional support.

Then in June, the support kept coming in with a partnership with Zumba For Julia, for monthly fundraisers to help support BlackLight Services.

Towards the end of the year, BlackLight was able to put on their first-ever Concert showcasing all of the new talent garnered from their community.

This year we have very big plans for BlackLight. We have already launched our BlackLight Community Membership plans. A membership plan designated for creatives at any stage in their career. We've launched our Membership site because we always wondered where is the safe space for BIPOC artists to have access? So join creatives who come and foster their community with advice, opportunities, masterclasses, and mentorship.

We have also started researching our future season of Masterclasses all to help young entertainers sharpen their skills for the future.

There is so much more planned this year and can't wait to roll it out. We are looking for sponsorships and grants to help support our programs and our team and we hope to reach more creatives of color by the end of this year.
